CodeREV Kids has taught over 6000 kids to code by licensing curriculum, providing professional development, teaching in-school and after school classes, and running code camps. CodeREV Kids is currently teaching coding to every student grades 1st-8th at 7 different underserved schools during the school day throughout the entire school year in Los Angeles and Long Beach. This means 32 coding classes per year per student for about 1650 underserved students, who will continue to take our coding classes until they graduate 8th grade. CodeREV plans to expand this partnership, and currently provides pre, mid, and post assessments at the beginning, middle, and end of each school year. 2 of CodeREVs main instructors for this program and others are computer science and game design professors at universities. Additionally, CodeREV teaches coding during the school day in 3 more schools, and in after school programs in about 40 schools. In its camps and after school programs, CodeREV teaches coding to students grades 1 - 10 in a project-based format, focusing on both drag-and-drop and text-based code, utilizing languages such as python, javascript, java, and C. CodeREV focuses on teaching computational thinking and computer science concepts while engaging students in the design process as students are taught to create their own games, apps, websites, and programs that enable students to create fun, meaningful technology experiences that excite them. Lastly, we also teach students to build and program hardware such as Lego Mindstorms, Rasberry pi, Arduinos.
