What does the St. Anne’s-Belfield School Computer Science Program look like?

The Computer Science Program is a conduit through which St. Anne’s-Belfield School achieves larger goals like student-directed learning, interdisciplinary inquiry and our impact on the larger community. The goals of the program are that:

  • 100% of students are exposed to and benefit from computer science
  • Self-selecting students are prepared for college-level success
  • Computer science is accessible to all

What impact do we have in the community?

Our passion for students to have a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of computing extends beyond the school through our SPARK! programming, which is open to the community. SPARK! is making an impact in Charlottesville and beyond by offering innovative programs to students and teachers throughout the region at low to no cost.

  • A free annual high school hackathon that brings students from schools throughout the region together with industry experts to solve real-world problems through technology.
  • Low-cost summer Exploration & Launchpad experiences for middle and high school students that bring together the best of the CS Program at STAB: innovative teaching, student-driven learning and real-world problem solving and making it available to the community.
  • A free CS Institute to give K-12 teachers an opportunity to get hands on with new computer science skills and tools while coming away with CS-infused lesson plans.
